Read This If You Are Going Through a Rough Time

It’s okay to feel sad. It’s okay to feel upset. Your feelings are valid. You don’t need another person to tell you this, but I want you to know that you are not crazy for feeling these emotions.

Sometimes things happen that are out of your control, and some things happen within your control. When you experience an external source of hurt, you cannot control how that person treats or speaks to you, but you can control how you respond. This doesn’t always mean that you have full control of your emotions, but you can navigate around them.

You can choose to give your time to people who love and care for you, instead of people who make you feel inadequate or belittled. You can choose to find a career that fulfills you or gives you time to to do the things you love, or you can choose to stay settled in an unhappy career with little to no work-life balance. You can choose to give importance to the people that lift you up and encourage you, or you can choose to give importance to those who always find faults in you. You can choose to forgive yourself and continue on your personal development journey, or you can choose to dwell on your insecurities and shortcomings.

It’s usually easier said than done, but I want you to try. Try to see the good in yourself and the good that you do. Try to love yourself as you are now, not only when you achieve your dream body or income goals. Try to be kinder to yourself. Try to form your self-talk in a similar way you would talk to a loved one, with empathy and understanding.

You don’t have to be perfect, and I want you to let go of the idea of perfectionism. I want you to realize that there is no permanency in life, happy or sad, good or bad, as every day will be different. I want you to cherish the good days and learn from the bad days. I want you to know that life is always about adjusting and adapting. I want you to acknowledge the value you bring to those around you and use the strengths that you have to help your life and those around you for the better.

I want you to embrace your uniqueness. I want you to keep going.
